Job Title: Lead / Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead / Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of electrical design engineers and driving change to make the department more efficient and profitable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers and the Technical Manager to ensure effective allocation of tasks.
  • Ensure that the team's deliverables are of the required quality and delivered to projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage the day-to-day flow of operations within the team, maintaining high levels of motivation and ensuring the welfare of team members.
  • Develop team members through regular reviews, mentoring, and identification of training needs, and assist in the monitoring of PDP activities of individual engineers.
  • Manage the use of engineering tools and identify/implement process improvements as required.
  • Assist in the recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, ensuring the team adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide design solutions and guidance to other members of the team.
  • Take responsibility for the technical compliance of the electrical design to the customer's specifications, including safety and legislative compliance.
  • Take a senior role in design/project reviews, ensuring suitable data is available and running them in a professional manner.
  • Produce necessary design documentation to substantiate the design and application to a project, to a high standard and able to pass technical reviews.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience, with MOD or Aerospace/Defence or Marine Technical experience (min 5 years).
  • Power & Electrical Design capability, including System design & Component Selection.
  • Proven Control and Instrumentation design capability.
  • Relevant experience in Variable Speed Drives, Motor Starter panels, Distribution systems, and PLC systems.
  • FMEA & Safety Capabilities, ability to write and carry out Safety Assessments + Reliability analysis.
  • An understanding of Testing & Automation.
  • Experience with Instruments (NI) Hardware & Labview would be advantageous.
  • Ability to use E-Plan & Solidworks Electrical would be advantageous.
