Position Overview
The Lead Automation Solutions Engineer plays a crucial role in the IT Automation sector, reporting directly to the IT Automation Manager. This position focuses on engineering and technical support for laboratory and manufacturing systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. You will serve as a vital resource for various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, IT, and validation. Your responsibilities will encompass incident resolution, database management, local network infrastructure, and control systems programming, among others.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the deployment of new systems, ensuring adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP) at our facilities.
- Support project teams by addressing IT Digital Capability requirements, including user support and data management.
- Contribute to the creation of validation documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Execute testing protocols and scripts as necessary.
Ongoing Support for GMP Systems
- Conduct routine maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of automation systems.
- Identify and implement process improvements for existing systems.
- Initiate change controls and document necessary modifications.
- Provide advanced training to end users to enhance system utilization.
- Ensure system availability for production, minimizing downtime.
- Request vendor quotes for approved equipment and services.
- Collaborate with various teams during troubleshooting processes.
- Program and configure PLCs and SCADA systems using industry-standard software.
- Maintain compliance with health authority regulations and internal policies.
- Act as a representative for the IT Digital Capability department in cross-departmental projects.
- Support global initiatives requiring IT Automation expertise.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel, less than 10% of the time.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Knowledgeable in Windows operating systems and laboratory applications.
- Understanding of IT fundamentals, including networking and security.
- Experience with coding and scripting, particularly in PLC programming.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work independently.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical or engineering environment is preferred.
Working Conditions
- May require climbing and working at heights.
- Exposure to elevated noise levels and other environmental factors.
- Ability to work in various settings, including office and production environments.
