Mathematics Tutor

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Tutor to join our team at Mount Mary University. The successful candidate will provide content tutoring in mathematics to a diverse student population with varied academic needs.

• Tutor students primarily in algebra through calculus, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to ensure student understanding and engagement.
• Work with students in person and through online platforms, adapting to individual learning styles and needs.
• Collaborate with faculty to incorporate course-specific learning outcomes during tutoring sessions, promoting a seamless integration of academic support.
• Help students identify their own individual strengths and skills, enabling them to create effective study plans and set achievable academic goals.
• Participate in outreach activities and tutoring services, fostering a sense of community and promoting academic success.
• Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services, ensuring the highest quality of support for students.
• Collaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to student success.

• Bachelor of Science in Mathematics required, Master's degree strongly preferred.
• Experience with college-level tutoring strongly preferred.
• Ability to also tutor statistics strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working with students one-on-one, and in small group formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence, with experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds.
• Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education.
• Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae.
• Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects.

• Varying workflow; sometimes stressful with high workload times of the year.
