Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced River Operations Supervisor to join our team at Grand Canyon Resort Corporation. As a key member of our Hualapai River Running department, you will be responsible for supervising a team of employees, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our river running activities, and providing exceptional customer service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of River Running employees, including Photographers, Swamper/Packers, and River Guides.
  • Ensure the proper safety, health, and sanitation policies and procedures are in place and being followed.
  • Lead, coach, train, develop, and motivate team members to achieve exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
  • Supervise the loading of equipment at launch points, rig rafts, frames, and motors, and ensure all necessary equipment is provided for each trip.
  • Responsible for the condition and maintenance of equipment, motors, and rafts.
  • Supervise daily inspections of all equipment prior to, during, and upon conclusion of each raft trip for defects, damage, and general safety precautions.
  • Ensure all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Answer visitor/tourist questions, provide directions, and share information about the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hualapai River Running, and Hualapai history and culture.
  • Handle emergency situations or unhappy customers and take action to remedy the situation.
Requirements
  • Good oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Completed a minimum of two (2) years as a seasoned River Runner.
  • Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends, and holidays.
