We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our agile team within a large organization, collaborating with both internal and external partners to deliver cutting-edge, leadership products that address the challenges faced by our enterprise clients.

In this role, you will be responsible for the development, design, evaluation, and modification of rugged tablet and point-of-sale systems, focusing on Android and Microsoft Windows products.

You will have the opportunity to create system architecture and ensure the integrity of the architecture/design aligns with customer and regulatory requirements.

This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the complete development process; from product conception to launch.
  • Architect, design, and support the development and testing of system solutions for several complex technical projects. Generate system specifications for the projects. Lead the technology roadmap process. Recommend project strategies and objectives.
  • Encourage innovative thinking and creativity among team members to attract and retain top talent. Mentor others on effectively developing, communicating, and implementing new solutions.
  • Prioritize quality and seek improvements in all project aspects.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of competitor products and development trends to guide designs that exceed the competition.
  • Utilize your status as a developer of innovative solutions to enhance business and attract positive attention to technologies and services.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop next-generation ideas and solutions that meet client needs ahead of competitors.
  • Analyze competitor intellectual property and engage in activities related to protecting intellectual property.
  • Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve results.
  • Establish formal networks to coordinate among groups.
  • Act as the organization's spokesperson on specialized projects or programs.
  • Serve as the primary consultant on large projects that impact the organization's long-term goals and objectives.
  • May also oversee accessory development.
  • May supervise the activities of others.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, computer science) required.
  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of experience required.
  • Experience in hardware development with Android and Windows-based systems required.
  • Knowledge of hardware architectures such as CPU, Memory, Storage, Power Management, and subsystems like batteries and wireless displays required.
  • Ability to translate customer usage into design requirements required.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in mobile product development is highly preferred.
  • Experience with rugged enterprise products is highly preferred.
  • Experience in product performance benchmarking and testing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to executive leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems effectively.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to hardware device development and release.

Salary: USD Yearly

Salary offered will vary based on location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunities to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
