Tax Examiner Technician

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a Tax Examiner Technician. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of tax laws and regulations.

• Analyze complex tax data to resolve issues and process cases for Appeals and Counsel.
• Apply relevant tax laws and regulations to determine adjustments and assess the impact of various conditions.
• Review case files to ensure all necessary documents are present and complete, and take corrective action to process adjustments to taxpayer accounts.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national and provide proof of citizenship.
• Must undergo a review of prior performance and income tax verification.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation and FBI criminal history record check.
• Must complete a suitability determination at the time requested by the agency.
• Must go through a Personal Identity Verification process.

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Specialized experience: 1 year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service.
• Education: 4 years of education above high school level in any field of study from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Your application will be evaluated on the Critical Job Elements (CJE) of the position to be filled, in accordance with Article 13 of the IRS/NTEU National Agreement. Your application will also be rated and ranked among others, based on your responses to the online questions/assessment.
