Job Title: Generator Technician

At National Power, we are seeking a highly skilled Generator Technician to join our team. As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of generator sets and other electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators and parallel systems, including troubleshooting and repair of Automatic Transfer Switches.
  • Conduct diesel or gaseous engine troubleshooting and repair, including ignition components, injection systems, and valve adjustments.
  • Perform load bank testing on generator(s) to ensure units are in proper operating conditions and meet applicable code requirements.
  • Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs or troubleshooting complicated issues.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical related field preferred.
  • Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
  • US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician's Mate, or Generator and/or UPS field service technician preferred.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to give verbal/written reports of job status, repair recommendations, equipment/supplies needed.
  • Ability to account for time spent on jobs and travel.
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
  • Good computer skills and comfort with Microsoft software, including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe (PDF's).
Work Environment:
  • Work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, high humidity, etc.).
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 75lbs, required.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps, and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms.
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive pay depending on previous experience and current certifications.
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 X base.
