Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at Elderwood at Cheektowaga. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing speech-language therapy services.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth evaluations to identify communication problems and develop personalized therapy plans.
  • Coordinate audiometric screenings and make referrals for further audiology evaluations or treatments as needed.
  • Initiate and maintain speech-language therapy plans of care, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Observe and respect the rights of residents, treating them with kindness and dignity.
  • Maintain accurate records of evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to integrate speech-language treatment programs with other disciplines.
  • Attend resident care planning and family/resident care plan review meetings.
  • Submit statistical reports and complete assessment forms as required.
Qualifications:
  • M.A. or M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school.
  • State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Current, valid CPR/BLS credential.
  • Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others.
