POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary objective of this role is to deliver exceptional service and comprehensive patient care, both basic and advanced, in a professional and empathetic manner while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate each emergency situation to determine the most effective response and appropriate protocols.
- Employ medical tools and techniques, including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen delivery systems, intravenous therapy, CPR, and other necessary interventions to provide superior medical assistance.
- Utilize triage skills to maximize efficiency during emergency calls.
- Administer patient care in accordance with established clinical guidelines and safety standards.
- Assist in lifting and transporting patients to ensure optimal care delivery.
- Engage with receiving medical facilities to obtain guidance and relay critical patient information.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide reassurance and updates on care being administered.
- Assume leadership roles and manage the scene and unit as required.
- Operate the ambulance and navigate effectively to reduce response times.
- Maintain all necessary certifications and training.
- Coordinate with dispatchers to understand call details and gather customer feedback.
- Ensure the ambulance is in good condition, clean, and fully stocked for optimal emergency response.
- Document all patient care activities and billing information accurately to ensure comprehensive records for each call.
- Adhere to policies regarding response times and turnaround procedures.
- Consider patient conditions and insurance preferences when determining transport destinations.
- Be prepared to work beyond scheduled hours with minimal notice.
- Collaborate professionally with all healthcare and public safety personnel.
- Report any incidents involving negative interactions with customers or patients to the on-duty supervisor or account manager immediately.
- Navigate using maps and accurately interpret street signs and addresses.
- Read and understand medication labels and instructions quickly and accurately.
- Engage in verbal communication with patients and their families in various environments to gather necessary information.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions through visual assessments.
- Communicate patient status with dispatchers and EMS personnel via phone or radio.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Follow information systems security policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Regularly meet and communicate with existing clients and staff members to ensure that service needs are being met.
- Participate in community outreach programs to enhance the company's image and foster strong community relations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensing/Certification:
- Current Paramedic License.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED); advanced education is preferred.
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS (as required).
- Driving record must comply with company safety and driving policies.
Experience:
Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
