Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations, including OSHA and industry-specific standards.
  • Safety Culture and Training: Develop and implement effective safety training programs, facilitate delivery of safety information to assigned areas, and promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Incident Investigation and Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Field Safety Observations and Inspections: Conduct regular field safety observations and inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements and government regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with employees at all levels to identify and address safety and environmental challenges, provide expert opinions on safety aspects of plans and procedures, and maintain open communication channels to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in safety and health or a related field.
  • Certification: Certification in safety (CSP) or industrial hygiene (CIH) preferred; must be willing to obtain in the future if not currently possessed.
  • Experience: Electric and natural gas utility experience preferred, but not required.
  • Skills: Possess a valid driver's license, First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to acquire), and a commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures.
