Position Overview

We are currently in search of an Academic Support Coordinator for our Talent Search initiative.

This role will involve regular engagement within various communities to facilitate educational advancement.

The Academic Support Coordinator will play a crucial role in guiding clients towards their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Identify and recruit eligible participants as determined by educational guidelines set forth by the relevant grant.
  • Conduct outreach at designated locations to attract potential candidates;
  • Engage with participants in a professional setting, initiate documentation (Initial Contact Form), and complete service summaries.
  • Maintain precise and organized records.
  • Provide comprehensive explanations of the program and available services.
  • Administer and assess career evaluation tools.
  • Offer career counseling and guidance.
  • Facilitate educational trips, including overnight excursions.
  • Deliver academic support and mentorship.
  • Assist participants with financial aid applications (federal, state, institutional, private), college admissions, scholarship submissions, and entry into GED programs.
  • Conduct follow-up with participants to ensure ongoing support.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, ideally in psychology, education, or counseling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly low-income and/or potential first-generation college students.
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish) is preferred.
  • This role requires flexibility in scheduling, travel, and on-call availability.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance are necessary.
  • Clearances: PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal History Check, FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
