- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Complete thorough inspections of equipment to ensure safe operating conditions, checking oil and fuel levels prior to departure.
- Load Securing and Maintenance: Secure loads and inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning, conducting preventive maintenance to ensure trucks are clean and in good working order.
- Logistics and Documentation: Maintain accurate driving records, logs, and shipping documents, verifying shipping documents for accuracy and obtaining customer signatures upon delivery.
- Communication and Teamwork: Maintain radio/telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations, participating in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
- Age and Education: Must be 21 years of age, with a minimum of 12th-grade basic education completed.
- Experience and Licenses: Minimum 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle in excess of 26,000 lbs, with a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License and successful completion of forklift driver licensing process.
- Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of vehicle parts and minor repairs, with the ability to handle equipment in proper operating conditions.
