Position Summary

Role Summary:
This position involves assessing patients with substance use challenges, formulating tailored treatment strategies, and overseeing the execution of these plans. The role also includes maintaining comprehensive records of treatment plans and developing innovative treatment programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create personalized treatment strategies that incorporate individual counseling, group therapy, referrals to external organizations, Twelve-Step programs, and various therapeutic techniques. Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions, facilitating weekly group therapy meetings.
2. Design and implement resources and programs that improve service delivery, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team that may include psychiatry, gastroenterology, and other specialists.
3. Assess patients suspected of having substance use disorders or those with dual diagnoses by utilizing various diagnostic instruments. Prepare a detailed clinical and diagnostic summary to determine the appropriate level of care based on ASAM criteria. Establish a plan focused on harm reduction or abstinence for patient admission.
4. Execute and oversee the treatment strategy, monitoring patient attendance, progress, and compliance with related appointments or referrals.
5. Maintain accurate records of patient activities, progress, discharge summaries, and aftercare plans. Ensure all patient visits and services are correctly coded and charges are precise.
6. Provide education and mentorship related to substance use treatment to Psychiatry residents, medical students, and interns in psychology, social work, and counseling.
7. Deliver both in-person and virtual interventions to patients.
Additional Information:
Educational Qualifications:
* Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, or a related human services field.
Licensure/Certification:
* Must hold a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), LCSW-Associate, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or LCMHC-Associate in North Carolina, and also be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or LCAS-Associate.
Professional Experience:
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Behavioral Health.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Proficient understanding of pharmacological treatments for addiction and mental health disorders.
* Familiarity with ASAM criteria and evidence-based models for treating substance use disorders.
* Knowledge of harm-reduction principles and practices.
