Quality Control Inspector

Astronics is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, components, and parts for conformance to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Examines and tests assemblies in a darkroom for compliance to illumination regulations.
• Examines layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware, and components to detect assembly errors.
• Performs return material analysis.
• Compares assembly with parts list to detect missing hardware.
• Examines soldering, both in process and in final, to determine acceptability per specifications.
• Examines alignment of parts and measures parts for conformance to specified dimensions.
• Traces cables and harness assemblies, following cable-wiring diagram, to verify routing of wires to specified connections and conformance of cable lacing and insulation to manufacturing standards.
• Performs First Article Inspections and first piece inspections.
• Examines parts for surface defects such as chips, scratches, and pinholes.
• Examines production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps are according to specifications.
• Records inspection data such as serial number, type and number of defects, and generates a non-conformance report for review by the MRB group.
Requirements
• Ability to focus on the task at hand and pay attention to details.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively and professionally interact with others in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.
• Read, learn, understand and interpret safety rules, work instructions, blueprints, compliance documents, etc.
• Background check and pre-employment drug test required.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Good overall computer skills, MS Office and e-mail programs.
• 1-3 years' experience of inspection of electronic assemblies.
Work Environment
The noise level in a manufacturing environment can be elevated.
