Overview:

The Automation Control Systems Engineer is responsible for creating software solutions that align with project specifications through structured analysis and design methodologies.

Working with minimal oversight, the engineer will design, develop, test, and document software solutions. Tasks will be executed under the guidance of the Control Manager and in collaboration with the Project Engineer, adhering to project specifications and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop intricate solutions to meet specific project requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of control logic across all product lines.
  • Engage directly with hardware engineering teams to create CNC and PLC logic.
  • Work closely with project engineering to establish CNC configurations and parameters.
  • Assist senior programmers in developing interfaces for HMIs and front-end systems.
  • Support Systems Engineers during functional testing of machinery on the production floor.
  • Document design processes in accordance with company and client standards as required.
  • Debug software modules and conduct simulation tests on systems.
  • Provide support to production teams in implementing software solutions.
  • Assist Systems Engineers in software installation at client locations and offer guidance to clients on software usage.
  • Collaborate with various functional teams (Manufacturing, Assembly, Customer Service) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee testing and validation processes for design outputs.
  • Maintain and enhance technical skills and knowledge relevant to the field.
  • Contribute to additional tasks as necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or technical qualification in logic or controls engineering.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Strong foundation in mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Proven understanding of complex control system architectures and CNC motion control.
  • Ability to assess software requirements for intricate control systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, and STL.
  • Familiarity with structured programming techniques and advanced data structures.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, including protocols like Ethernet, Profibus, and Profinet.
  • Extensive experience with PC systems, particularly Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Capability to adhere to project schedules and budgetary constraints.
  • Two to three years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Siemens CNC 840Dsl/Step 7 PLC and Fanuc 30i/Fanuc Ladder.
  • Familiarity with Siemens, Fanuc, GE Fanuc, and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Strong understanding of various machine tool types, their functions, and typical machining processes.

Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and Visual Basic is advantageous.
