Thorlabs is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team in the production of high-quality photonics products. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for assembling products using mechanical fasteners and various epoxies, performing visual and mechanical measurements of parts, and aligning components using equipment such as alignment jigs and laser test stations.
Key Responsibilities- Kit Preparation: Prepare necessary components and materials for batch production, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the process.
- Assembly and Measurement: Assemble products using mechanical fasteners and various epoxies, and perform visual and mechanical measurements of parts using metrology devices.
- Component Alignment: Align components using equipment such as alignment jigs and laser test stations, ensuring precise and accurate results.
- Packaging and Handling: Package products for the next process step or final customer, handling and cleaning specialty fiber optics, precision optics, and mechanical components with care.
- Quality Control: Examine parts and materials for defects, and sort and count parts and materials accurately.
- Manufacturing Experience: Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience or related technical education.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Teamwork and Quality: Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
- Attention to Detail: Good work ethic and strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.
- Basic Skills: Basic mathematic knowledge and proficiency in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office.
- Work Environment: Work may be active, requiring standing or sitting for long durations and/or performing repetitious work.
- Lifting and Moving: Frequent lifting or moving of objects up to 20 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment.
