J & L Tax Inc. is a reputable tax preparation and business planning firm based in NYC, with over 10 years of experience. We are committed to delivering exceptional services and solutions with a personal touch.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing business and individual tax returns and supporting work papers for various US Federal, State, and Local Jurisdictions
  • Preparing State Sales and Use Tax returns for business clients
  • Preparing weekly/monthly payroll & forms 1099, 941, 940, w-2, w-3
  • Actively leading or participating in client discussions and meetings
  • Researching and maintaining excellent knowledge of tax regulations
  • Monthly client bank reconciliations in QuickBooks
  • Additional accounting responsibilities and project work, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred from an accredited college.
  • Enrolled Agent or CPA license (Preferred)
  • 2+ years of work experience handling business, individual, estate and non-profit taxes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in reviewing accounting records typically in QuickBooks Online and making appropriate adjustments
  • Strong attention to detail, deadlines and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a high volume of returns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
  • Proficient with QuickBooks, ProSeries and Excel software is beneficial
  • Available to work 45+ hours a week, evenings and weekends during tax season from January to April
  • Desired to learn and grow professionally on your area of expertise

Hours and Compensation:

· Schedule 35- 40 hours per week

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting salary is determined at the time of the job interview based on experience and skills. Benefits include generous paid time off and paid holidays
