Slitter Operator

Combined Metals is a leading North American processor and distributor of specialty strips and wire. We are seeking a skilled Slitter Operator to join our team at our Chicago facility.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy machinery, including slitters, forklifts, and overhead cranes, to process metal coils and strips.
- Inspect material during processing to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Set up and adjust slitter knives and stripper rings to achieve optimal results.
- Prepare metal coils by trimming them to fit customer specifications.
- Conduct final checks of coil specifications to ensure compliance.
- Properly identify and document all slit material.
- Repair minor mechanical problems and assist with equipment maintenance.
- Participate in training and certification programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by removing scrap and waste, checking machines, and identifying potential hazards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in metal processing or a related field.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
