Penn Presbyterian's ED has been recognized by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) as a Lantern Award recipient, one of only 29 EDs nationwide. This prestigious award honors emergency departments for outstanding professional practice and innovative performance in leadership, education, advocacy, and research.

Penn Presbyterian's ED is dedicated to the prompt recognition, assessment, and treatment of unforeseen illnesses or injuries. Open 24/7, our ED is fully equipped to provide exceptional emergency care for all medical and surgical conditions. Our ED nurses collaborate with healthcare professionals locally and globally to foster long-term, cooperative relationships. They are dedicated to being reliable and trustworthy resources, ensuring patients receive the most advanced treatment options tailored to their needs. Our renovated ED features: spacious waiting and registration areas, private single-patient exam rooms, new entrances, advanced resuscitation rooms, a specialized eye emergency care room, a medical imaging suite, an upgraded nursing station, and enhanced patient flow systems.

Position Overview:

  • The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) operates within the UPHS professional practice framework and embodies UPHS core values, reflecting its mission. Utilizing specialized knowledge, the CNE develops, implements, and assesses practice standards that enhance the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities.
  • This role encompasses clinical leadership responsibilities, including patient care, consultation, research application, and education, aimed at maintaining practice standards, fostering professional development, and influencing nursing practices within the organization.
  • The CNE actively promotes organizational objectives, facilitating the integration of evidence-based practices, professional standards, and demonstrating organizational acumen.
  • By reframing clinical practice challenges, the CNE highlights implications for various stakeholders (clinicians, educators, administrators) to incorporate concerns into practice improvements. A key aspect of CNE practice is managing complex patient-family scenarios.
  • As a clinical leader, the CNE serves as a crucial liaison, effectively communicating and negotiating diverse perspectives within the organization to advocate for positive change and ethical care delivery.
  • The CNE's leadership approach reflects moral agency, addressing ethical dilemmas collaboratively while responding to immediate patient and family needs and empowering others to manage clinical situations effectively.
  • Engaging with staff, the CNE recognizes developmental needs and promotes understanding of issues, knowledge, and reflective practice.

  • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Education:
