Job Overview: As a key member of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, the Enforcement Agent plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with public safety regulations. This position involves conducting investigations, enforcing codes, and maintaining public safety standards.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and successfully complete all department-required physical agility standards, including vision and hearing tests, as well as a thorough background check. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, residents of Ohio, and citizens of the United States at the time of appointment.
Essential Skills:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in investigation techniques, code enforcement, and knowledge of criminology/criminal justice.
- Professional Skills: Strong attention to detail, adaptability, critical thinking, and effective decision-making abilities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Engage with the community to promote public safety and awareness.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to investigations and enforcement actions.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and other agencies as necessary.
Working Conditions: This role may require overnight travel and exposure to potentially hazardous environments. Agents may encounter high-crime areas and must be prepared to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Training Requirements: Successful candidates will be required to complete basic peace officer training during the probationary period. Ongoing training in firearms, defensive driving, and self-defense will also be mandatory.
