BIW Upperbody Engineer

We are seeking an experienced BIW Upperbody Engineer to join our team at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI). As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex body-in-white (BIW) systems for our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop BIW upperbody systems, mentoring junior engineers in best practices and guiding them through the design process.
• Perform design-releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects, managing system BOMs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Utilize CATIA V5 and other engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings, ensuring high-quality designs that meet regulatory requirements.
• Lead cost/mass target reduction studies for component parts, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes.
• Investigate quality, assembly, and durability issues, suggesting engineering improvements and mentoring junior engineers on best practices to mitigate future issues.
• Interface with cross-functional teams, including engineering design teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders, both domestically and internationally.
• Review and advise on part/system performance and regulatory testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Develop benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
