Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Closures Design Lead to join our team. This is a senior management position that requires strong leadership and technical expertise in automotive closures design.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced professional with 12-15 years of experience in automotive vehicle design and development, including 3+ years of managing an engineering department or section. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of vehicle design and solving development and quality issues, as well as significant experience and expertise in automotive areas such as closures moving, closures mechanisms, CAE, testing, quality, and production launch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, communicating, and executing the Closures Engineering Design Mechanisms & BIW Team vision, leading strategic initiatives, and managing daily activities for work projects. They will also support annual team work plans and budgets, manage R&D expenses, and ensure optimal utilization of resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the Closures Engineering Design Mechanisms & BIW Team vision, ensuring alignment with HMG visions, goals, and business objectives.
  • Business Management: Manage R&D expenses, identify savings opportunities, and support project/strategic investment decisions.
  • Team Management: Support annual team work plans and budgets, manage daily activities for work projects, and ensure administrative functions are followed on a timely basis.
  • Vehicle Development: Be a subject matter expert in automotive closure mechanisms and BIW systems, conduct competitive benchmarking, and perform detailed engineering cost/weight analysis.
  • Life Cycle Support: Support manufacturing plant and life cycle activities of 5 plants, including product launch metrics, continuous vehicle improvement, cost and mass reductions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (minimum) with MBA or Master's Degree Preferred
  • 12-15 years of experience in automotive vehicle design and development, including 3+ years of managing an engineering department or section
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle design and solving development and quality issues
  • Significant experience and expertise in automotive areas such as closures moving, closures mechanisms, CAE, testing, quality, and production launch
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
