Job Overview

As a Quality Inspector at Genpak, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct inspections according to the predetermined schedule and communicate findings to the Quality Manager and/or FOAM Team Leader.
  2. Oversee the performance of Quality Control Inspectors to ensure adherence to inspection schedules.
Essential Duties

  1. Adhere to all company policies and safety protocols, including Good Manufacturing Practices.
  2. Perform quality assessments on production lines multiple times per shift, as necessary.
  3. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of product quality standards.
  4. Manage First Piece Approvals (FPA) and ensure the availability of necessary inspection materials.
  5. Conduct specialized product testing as required.
  6. Operate the INSTRON machine for compression testing on relevant finished goods.
  7. Verify the accuracy of measurement tools, including gram scales.
  8. Carry out incoming job inspections.
  9. Test products for leaks, lid-fit, and strength at designated intervals.
  10. Complete all necessary documentation accurately and thoroughly.
  11. Utilize measurement devices such as gram scales, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers effectively.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, completing the Lab Housekeeping worksheet each shift.
  13. Fulfill any additional responsibilities assigned by the Quality Manager.
Primary Interactions

Quality Inspectors will engage with all personnel across the plant on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Competencies

  8. Have a moderate understanding of control charts.
  9. Exhibit strong math, reading, and writing skills.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should possess strong math, reading, and writing skills.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position require moderate physical effort and manual dexterity. Employees will frequently sit, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch, and must be able to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a manufacturing/warehouse/laboratory setting, where employees may experience significant temperature variations. Proper safety precautions are essential to mitigate potential hazards. The noise level is typically moderate, necessitating the use of hearing protection.
