Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The SLP will collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create and implement personalized education plans (IEPs) that address each student's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of students' speech and language skills.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEPs based on assessment results.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language disorders.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support students' communication needs.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute valuable input on student progress and goals.
  • Educate and train teachers and parents on strategies to support speech and language development.
  • Stay updated on current research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Virginia.
  • Virginia Department of Education certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
