We are seeking a skilled Roofing Technician to join our Building Maintenance and Operations team at North Carolina State University. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the university's facilities to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Materials and Assist Roofers: Deliver materials to job sites and supply roofers with necessary materials, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Patching and Waterproofing: Assist in patching built-up roofs using both hot and cold applications, and help with asphalt patching for streets and assist in below-grade building waterproofing.
  • Identify and Resolve Facilities Issues: Identify facilities-related issues concerning campus roof and waterproofing maintenance, and collaborate with lead workers or supervisors to find solutions.
  • Perform Routine Tasks: Perform routine tasks, such as assisting brick masons and roofers, setting up scaffolding, providing tools and equipment, climbing ladders, patching roofs, and cleaning gutters.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Follow procedures, methods, and materials necessary for work completion, including safe assembly, demolition, excavation, and waste disposal, while proactively addressing safety concerns.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
  • Basic Understanding of Roofing Systems: Basic understanding of roofing systems.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
