Job Overview:

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will primarily engage with pediatric patients in outpatient settings, provide care for adult patients, and offer subacute inpatient coverage as necessary, including modified barium swallow studies.


Position Objective:

To deliver diagnostic and therapeutic services, educate patients and families, and facilitate appropriate referrals for individuals with speech, language, or swallowing disorders.

Ensure high-quality care through a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, assisting individuals facing communication challenges due to speech or language disabilities, enabling them to achieve their highest level of independence.



Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate patient care services for individuals of all ages, ensuring their needs are effectively addressed.

Responsibilities include patient evaluation and assessment, developing and implementing care plans, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and educating patients and caregivers.

Engage professionally with patients and their families, involving them in the care process.

Apply therapeutic principles and practices based on current evidence, clinical judgment, and patient preferences.

Tailor service delivery to accommodate patients' unique differences, values, and needs.
Maintain a safe practice environment that minimizes risks to patients and staff.

Produce timely and quality documentation to support care provision, adhering to professional and regulatory standards.

Collect and analyze data from selected outcome measures to track patient progress and the effectiveness of interventions.
Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, staff, and hospital leadership.
Submit accurate documentation and timely billing/coding information for services rendered.
Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical practice aligned with best standards.

This includes seeking opportunities for knowledge and skill enhancement and applying these skills for departmental and hospital growth.

Regularly assess personal performance to improve clinical and professional capabilities.
Advocate for the speech therapy profession.
Uphold infection control policies to protect patients and staff.

Stay updated on professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional organizations.

Support the development of rehab and hospital staff through training and information sharing.

Ensure compliance with legal and certification requirements by staying informed about legislation and advising management on necessary actions.


Goals:

Promote health, foster a safe treatment environment, motivate others, exhibit excellent bedside manner, listen attentively, analyze information, and maintain a quality-focused approach.

For school-based SLPs: Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), identifying student goals and necessary supports.

For home health SLPs: Provide in-home therapy services to patients and collaborate with interdisciplinary home health teams.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Actively participate in departmental and facility performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
Must complete employee health meeting

Education/Certification:
Active Colorado Speech Language Pathologist License (DORA) or valid compact license
Current CPR (BLS) certification (within 90 days of hire per Client Policy)

Experience:

Current Certificate of Clinical Competence granted by the American Speech Language Hearing Association in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
