POSITION SUMMARY:
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be tasked with the development, execution, management, and oversight of North Shore Bank's EHS initiatives and protocols across both domestic and international manufacturing and construction environments.
COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal EPA/OSHA regulations.
- Foster a culture of safety ownership and accountability within the organization by standardizing and clearly communicating safety protocols.
- Oversee environmental compliance concerning hazardous waste, stormwater, and air quality permits.
- Manage and supervise worker's compensation case management processes.
- Lead and coordinate an emergency response team to ensure effective on-site care for employees during potential emergencies.
- Conduct job assessments to evaluate physical demands.
- Perform noise assessments and solvent industrial hygiene sampling, effectively communicating findings to management and relevant personnel.
- Execute PPE risk assessments and develop task-specific matrices.
- Create and maintain fall protection procedures, risk assessments, and inspection protocols.
- Administer a respiratory protection program, providing training and guidance on respirator selection and maintenance.
- Draft Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space procedures tailored to specific machinery.
- Maintain a formal library of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure timely updates.
- Regularly update compliance task lists and ensure adherence to critical preventative maintenance schedules.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through safety audits, analyses, and investigations.
- Coordinate daily safety activities in support of operational teams.
- Support construction projects both domestically and internationally through procedure development and training.
- Provide expert solutions to complex environmental, safety, health, and security challenges as a safety leader.
- Deliver safety and health training for managers and supervisors focused on incident prevention and investigation.
- Assist management in workplace inspections to ensure safe and healthy conditions for all employees.
- Develop promotional materials to encourage safe work practices.
- Collaborate with management and supervisors in incident investigations to establish preventive measures.
- Maintain an extensive knowledge of safety regulations.
- Build and nurture relationships with employees across all locations.
- Conduct all activities in a safe and healthy manner, adhering to established safety protocols and company policies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role involves work in both office settings and uncontrolled environments. Employees may encounter harsh conditions, including dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather conditions. Compliance with safety standards and the use of personal protective equipment in designated areas is mandatory. Shift work may be necessary as production demands fluctuate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements outlined here represent those necessary for an employee to successfully execute the essential functions of this role. Regular activities include walking on uneven surfaces, standing, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and maintaining a state of alertness while working safely. The ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. consistently is required, along with the capacity to assist in emergencies involving employee injuries. Comprehensive knowledge of Federal EPA/OSHA, State, and local regulations in both general industry and construction is essential, with international safety regulation experience being advantageous.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant Safety-related field is required.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Safety-related role is acceptable.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal EPA/OSHA, State, and local regulations in both general industry and construction is required. International and construction safety regulation experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements from CalEPA and CalOSHA for completing annual reports is necessary.
- Ability to confidently deliver EHS briefings on site-specific hazards.
- Broad technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities are essential.
- Effective communication and training skills in EHS fundamentals are required.
- Strong planning, organization, and communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to learn and acquire new skills, including First Aid/CPR, Six Sigma, and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs is necessary.
- Effective time management, personal conduct, and change management skills are essential.
- Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
- Adherence to North Shore Bank's core values for safe and efficient operations and maintaining positive relationships among employees is required.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems is required.
- Experience with PLC programming and data acquisition is essential.
- Familiarity with SCADA Control Systems is required.
- Knowledge of IT networking concepts and layouts is necessary.
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, including 4-20mA and safety circuits, are required.
- Proficiency in personal computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs for data presentation is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment is necessary.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to navigate around various equipment, work in cold environments, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds is required. Accommodations may be necessary in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours and varying shifts is required, along with the potential for travel up to 20%.
