Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Server - Carpenter Hotel to join our team. As a Server - Carpenter Hotel, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that our guests have a memorable experience at El Cosmico.

Responsibilities

  • Escort customers to their tables and ensure that they have everything they need.
  • Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
  • Describe and recommend wines to customers, taking into account their preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
  • Inform customers of daily specials and make recommendations based on their preferences.
  • Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Take orders from patrons for food or beverage, ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
  • Must see to each guest's special needs, such as dietary restrictions or requests for special accommodations.
  • Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
  • Assist with running of food, ensuring that it is delivered to the correct table and in a timely manner.
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Manage order times and inform guests of any delays in service, taking steps to mitigate any negative impact.
  • Suggest and describe desserts or coffee at the completion of the guest's meal.
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
  • Collect payments from customers, ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining, ensuring that they are spotless and ready for the next guest.
  • Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Perform food and beverage preparation duties, such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, brewing coffee, preparing hot or cold drinks, chilling wine.
  • Stock service areas with supplies, such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
  • Fills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
