Position Overview:

Under the guidance of management, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for planning and administering radiation oncology treatments to patients, ensuring adherence to established protocols and high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer radiation therapy to patients as part of their treatment plan.
  • Operate the Varian Trilogy iX linear accelerator effectively.
  • Utilize Mosaiq for record-keeping and verification.
  • Conduct imaging procedures including CBCT, KV-KV, and MV imaging.
  • Perform CT simulations and assist in treatment planning.
  • Prepare electron blocks as needed.
  • Participate in CT scans and fluoroscopy to support treatment strategies.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality improvement standards, including radiation safety and infection control protocols.
  • Manage hazardous waste materials in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Work Monday through Friday, managing a caseload of 8-10 patients daily, totaling approximately 180 treatments monthly.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT) certification or eligibility for registry in New Mexico.
  • Current New Mexico Radiation Therapist licensure.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred, though new graduates may be considered.
