Key Position Details:

  • $7,500 Sign on Bonus Eligible
  • .9 FTE (72 hours per two week pay period)
  • Holidays and call per department need.
  • Occasional weekends
  • Varying start times

Job Responsibilities:

As a Surgical Technologist, you will participate in providing care to patients undergoing surgical intervention. Your tasks will include identifying, assembling and facilitating use of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies to assist the surgical team. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and will be delegated by the surgeon. You may also perform in the sterile processing function as needed. You will eventually be required to take call after orientation.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a surgical team member
    • Prepare the OR and set up for procedures.
    • Identify supplies, instruments and equipment needed.
    • Maintain a safe environment for patient and other staff, using electrical equipment and instruments correctly.
    • Follow aseptic technique standards of practice.
    • Comply with regulatory requirements for point of use care of instruments.
    • Handle medications and specimens following policies/procedures.
  • Assist the physician in the scrub role during surgical procedures
    • Maintain a sterile field.
    • Anticipate needs for instruments, equipment and other supplies.
    • Perform sponge, sharps and other counts accurately.
    • Account for all instruments and items on the field.
    • Communicate to physician and circulator when needs arise during the surgical intervention.
