Welding Quality Assurance Inspector

The ideal candidate will be tasked with ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and standards, including AWS and CWB, as well as shop drawings, weld maps, and tolerances as outlined in the quality assurance manual. This role involves inspecting welded products and their dimensions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts spot checks on welding activities.
- Evaluates welding procedures on a weekly basis and documents findings.
- Accountable for the completion of the Inspection and Test Plan.
- Performs dimensional and visual inspections (excluding finished welds).
- Conducts non-destructive testing, if qualified.
- Records all inspection processes that were not executed, with updates from the Foreman regarding work progress.
- Evaluates products against quality assurance standards utilizing current methodologies and techniques.
- Maintains regular communication with production leads, supervisors, and the QA Manager throughout the day.
- Provides technical and operational support to ensure quality assurance standards are upheld in various project tasks.
- Assesses and trains new team members as required.
- Assists colleagues in their responsibilities as needed.
- Operates under the guidance of the QC Manager.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CWI certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of five (5) years of welding experience.
- Proficient in both imperial and metric measurement systems.
- Ability to read measuring tapes and perform basic arithmetic with fractions and decimals.
- Capable of interpreting work orders, job specification sheets, and approved shop drawings.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Fluency in reading and speaking English.
- Experience in Structural Steel operations is preferred.
- A high school diploma is preferred.
