Job Summary

Douglass Community Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team. As a Lead Educator, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to promote children's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Coordinate daily educational activities, ensuring alignment with DCS policies, Missouri State licensing, and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Supervise and support staff/volunteers, promoting their growth and development through delegation of workload and constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of children, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to program confidentiality standards.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with relevant experience and coursework or credentialing per the Head Start Act or a state-awarded Early Childhood Certificate.
  • One to three years of experience working with young children, with a strong ability to communicate effectively, write developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to attend trainings and socialization appointments.
