About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GCP Database Services Architect to join our team at TEKsystems Global Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, architecting, and executing database migration and/or conversion projects from heterogeneous legacy databases to GCP Cloud SQL, Alloy DB, Cloud Spanner, and other cloud databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and design database migration and/or conversion projects based on underlying design patterns from legacy databases to cloud databases.
  • Develop and execute database migration and/or conversion tools and methodologies, including Change Data Capture (CDC) Replication tools and streaming tools.
  • Develop and refactor PL*SQL code as part of database migrations and/or conversions to ensure applications can continue to function with minimal modifications.
  • Work closely with application owners, business stakeholders, product managers, scrum masters, and DevOps engineers to execute the migration.
  • Collaborate on database architecture models to address performance and scalability issues involving access to massive amounts of data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on DBA experience in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or DB2.
  • Strong PL*SQL development experience.
  • Extensive experience in migrating on-prem legacy databases to cloud databases.
  • Strong working understanding of GCP Cloud databases, including Cloud SQL, Alloy DB, Spanner, Firestore, Firebase, BigTable, and BigQuery.
  • Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Java or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
  • GCP Professional Certification in one or more areas, including Cloud Architect, Cloud Database Engineer, Data Engineer, or DevOps Engineer.
  • Full-stack experience and understanding of various ways full-stack applications interact with underlying databases.
  • Ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
