Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers professional nursing care to residents of varying ages in a long-term care setting, under the guidance of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Exhibits proficiency and operates within the complete scope of nursing expertise, applying appropriate standards tailored to the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
Possesses the capability to conduct assessments that reflect the resident's condition and provide necessary care.
The LPN is adept at identifying issues, proposing solutions, and responding effectively in emergencies.Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Participates in resident assessments and administers medications or treatments as prescribed. Provides essential support to healthcare professionals as required. Maintains accurate documentation of resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activities, and dietary needs. Skilled in fostering effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community. Capable of collaborating efficiently with professional and support staff as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Communicates clearly while upholding the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Advises residents, family members, and/or advocates, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician, on preventive measures and treatment strategies.
Knowledgeable in resident education principles to develop self-care programs. Performs additional related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
If the position necessitates IV therapy/management skills, the following is required:
North Dakota:
Graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course sanctioned by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Must have completed a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing Board and/or possesses multi-state licensure privileges. Maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications. Completes necessary annual continuing education units (CEUs) and competency training as mandated by the department and facility.
