Job Summary

As a Patrol Deputy with Sweetwater County, you will serve and patrol an assigned beat, enforcing law and order in the protection of life and property. This role requires a strong sense of justice and a commitment to upholding the law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime and enforce traffic laws and regulations
  • Respond to radio and telephone dispatches and appear at scenes of disorder or crime
  • Make arrests, issue citations, and collect bonds
  • Inspect establishments providing alcoholic beverages and entertainment
  • Intervene in private or public disputes to protect the public and maintain order
  • Train in law enforcement work and related subjects
  • Assist with prisoner transport, assist jail personnel, serve protection orders and criminal summons
  • Note and report traffic hazards and assist in controlling traffic at scenes of emergencies
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, offenses, and damage to property
  • Direct traffic, give directions and information, and issue verbal warnings
  • Issue citations for parking and moving violations
  • Assist with medical calls and special events security
  • Assist stranded motorists
  • Investigate crimes and incidents, including livestock investigation and animal control
  • Perform initial and follow-up investigations of crimes involving arson, adults, and juveniles
  • Investigate complaints, impound and tag evidence, and prepare reports on arrests and property impounded
  • Assist with missing person searches
  • May serve on a tactical response team
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Applicants are subject to and must pass a full background check to include criminal history, psychological testing, and medical exam
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Ability to pass a rigorous fitness test
  • Ability to complete/attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy's 8-week long Detention Officer Basic Training in Douglas, WY
  • Ability to pass an oral interview examination
  • Candidates will be subject to and must pass an eye-detect test
  • Wyoming Driver's License & acceptable MVR
