Baler Operator

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Baler Operator to join our team. As a Baler Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining machinery used in the process of baling materials, while ensuring the clean appearance of the work area.

• Remove finished bales from the baler, weigh, and properly place them in the finished goods inventory area.
• Perform maintenance and repair on the baler, shredder, and conveyor when necessary.
• Maintain weekly maintenance records of machinery.
• Maintain a neat and orderly unfinished inventory area by properly stacking empty gaylords and picking up debris off the floor.
• Operate all machinery in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that all safety equipment and gear is functional and properly used.
• Support warehouse personnel on projects when directed by management.
• Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders, as well as all company policies, procedures, and directives from supervisors.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have forklift operator training.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.

• Closely related to the job, the ability to regularly lift/move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Possess the ability to move up to 300 pounds.

• Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
• Occasionally exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Occasionally work in high precarious places.
