Welding Engineer Job Description

Nesco Resource is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join our team. As a Welding Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement welding techniques and procedures to guide production and welding personnel.
  • Train and coach welders and manufacturing team members on proper welding techniques and best practices.
  • Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure compliance with established welding procedures and standards.
  • Work closely with design, tooling, and engineering teams to improve welded designs for manufacturing.
  • Perform statistical process and root cause analyses to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in hands-on welding and a solid understanding of welding theory and processes.
  • Previous experience in a machining and/or welding manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with brazing, joining, and metallographic interpretations.
  • Knowledge and experience in primarily semi-automatic and manual processes, weld prep and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical material.
  • Tooling design experience for welded assemblies to reduce part distortion and improve part consistency.
  • Understanding of weld strength testing methodologies, standards, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and training/coaching skills.
  • Proficient with computer and information technology (MS products).
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, process engineering, and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Prior experience interfacing with a quality management system, ISO9001, NQA-1, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in welding or materials engineering, or another related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
