Key Responsibilities- Supervise assistant inspectors and special access contractors
- Coordinate inspection schedules and access equipment
- Assess bridge element conditions and document findings
- Prepare bridge inspection reports and edit/prepare bridge inventory records
- Prepare inspection report documents using Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
- Assist with emergencies such as bridge hits, post-earthquake, and post-flood inspections
- New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration
- Qualified employee of New York State
- One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation)
- At least three (3) years of recent experience in bridge design, inspection, construction, or other bridge engineering-related experience
- Completion of an FHWA-approved comprehensive bridge inspection training
- Proof of completing a cumulative total of 18 hours of FHWA-approved bridge inspection refresher training
Candidate will be required to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours, traverse a construction job site, climb and leave a ladder to a platform, operate a mechanical aerial lift, and wear a personal fall arresting apparatus.
Out of town, overnight travel will be required for meetings and training as directed.
