Position Summary:

At Veritas Agrilabs, a subsidiary of Kalmbach Feeds, we are excited to announce an opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to lead our cutting-edge laboratory dedicated to the livestock feed sector. Our facility provides a comprehensive range of analytical services, including elemental assessments, fat and fiber analysis, NIR spectroscopy, and mycotoxin evaluations. As we expand our operations, we seek a dedicated and skilled individual to drive our laboratory's performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing laboratory team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Manage the financial aspects of Veritas Agrilabs, ensuring profitability and sustainability.
  • Oversee proficiency testing programs and spearhead efforts for ISO certification.
  • Collaborate effectively with agricultural scientists, procurement specialists, and manufacturing teams to meet customer demands and enhance operational excellence.
  • Conduct and supervise various analytical procedures, including ICP-OES and Dumas combustion for elemental analysis, as well as fat and fiber characterization.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of laboratory results, addressing any discrepancies as necessary.
  • Provide training and mentorship to laboratory staff on methodologies, instrumentation, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Manage client relationships as the laboratory transitions into a commercial entity.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing laboratory teams.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant laboratory experience, ideally within the livestock feed, soil health, water quality, or fertilizer industries.
  • Proficient in ICP-OES, Dumas analysis, and NIR spectroscopy.
  • Strong understanding of LIMS and its application in enhancing laboratory workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related discipline is required.
  • Experience in the agricultural and animal nutrition sectors is highly valued.
  • Exhibits high energy and initiative to lead activities in a dynamic laboratory setting.
  • Possesses strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
