We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant - Customer Service Representative to join our team at UF Health. As a Medical Assistant - Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and greet patients entering the department/practice.
- Assist in all aspects of medical practice, including administrative and clinical procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead.
- Receive and direct messages, including electronic, in-person, and telephone calls, to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain patient scheduling functions and set patient appointments through established guidelines.
- Interview and complete the registration process for patients utilizing the specific service.
- Key patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, patient orders, charges, and payments as defined in the electronic medical record.
- Perform cashiering functions as it relates to co-payments or other patient payments/collections.
- Perform venipuncture and administer routine, non-controlled medications.
- Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
- Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
- Perform basic laboratory procedures, including aseptic procedures and taking patient's vital signs.
- 1 year Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- 2 years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a healthcare-related industry preferred.
- 1 year experience with third-party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
- Medical Terminology Certificate preferred within 30 days.
