The Climbing Team Coach is a key member of our team responsible for delivering high-quality coaching and instruction to our youth climbing teams. This role requires a passion for developing young athletes and a strong background in climbing instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coaching and Instruction
    • Deliver practice content to our youth climbing teams, focusing on transformative experiences and life skills development.
    • Work with Team Managers to plan and execute programming that aligns with our core values and promotes a sense of belonging among team members.
  • Team Management
    • Monitor the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of athletes and provide support to ensure their success.
    • Collaborate with Team Managers to follow the season schedule and deliver daily instruction for the team.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Assist with administrative tasks, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, and organizing practice notes.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, and gym leadership to ensure seamless team operations.

Requirements

  • Core Values
    • Embody Movement's core values of partnership, inclusion, passion, innovation, and integrity.
  • Climbing Experience
    • Strong climbing and training background, with experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached.
    • Knowledge and experience in USA Climbing competitions, route setting, and/or competitive climbing is preferred.
  • Education and Certifications
    • Current USA Climbing Coach membership, or ability to obtain this immediately upon hire, including Safesport, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
    • Ability to travel for competitions and events as needed.

Benefits

  • Part-time (8-15 hours/week) non-exempt position, including gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees.
  • Starting pay is $20 with room for flexibility depending on experience.
