About the Job

The Cardiovascular Sonographer is a key member of our team, responsible for performing Echocardiography and/or Vascular diagnostic testing as per Accreditation Guidelines. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care.
  • Ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism.
  • Reviews physician orders to ensure correct procedure and correctly identifies patients.
  • Performs all studies according to policy and procedures and standards established by Accrediting body. Abnormal pathology reported appropriately.
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers patient's questions, and ensures comfort of patient.
  • Assists with patient transport as needed.
  • Obtains pertinent health history, enters accurate and complete data in diagnostic testing equipment and documentation system, and ensures accuracy of reports prior to dispatch.
  • Communicates pertinent patient data to appropriate team members and collaborates with other departments to provide optimum patient care.
  • Knowledgeable of all equipment pertinent to specific area of testing, able to perform basic trouble-shooting, and participates in evaluation of new equipment.
  • Responsible for personal professional development, maintains registry status or actively pursues registry, and participates in accreditation/re-accreditation process.
  • Utilizes computers appropriate to areas of testing effectively, including timekeeping system, clinical information systems, and the intranet.
  • Assists in development of department monitors and data collection and participates in PI work groups.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Registered by the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) as a RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or Registered by CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) as a RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in cardiovascular imaging preferred.
