Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team at North Cobb Animal Hospital. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients and their owners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate care to pets, including feeding, exercising, and restraining animals as needed.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks, such as cleaning and maintaining equipment, and handling pets.
- Monitor pets for signs of distress or disease and report any unusual conditions to veterinarians or technicians.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, including cleaning equipment and facilities, and ensuring the safe use of chemicals.
- Follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, runs, wards, and related areas.
- Complete weekly and monthly chore lists to maintain hospital cleanliness and appearance.
- Provide patients with fresh, clean bedding when appropriate.
- Walk patients according to schedule.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Some experience working at a kennel or animal hospital preferred.
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends, overnights, and holidays.
- This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.
