Job Summary

Noland Hospital Birmingham - Downtown is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient evaluations, including obtaining information on occupational roles, activities of daily living, history, cognition, perception, strength, and range of motion.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to establish patient treatment plans and goals.
  • Provide direct patient care services, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques.
  • Modify treatment approaches to reflect patient needs and adapt interventions to the environment, tools, materials, and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and their families and caregivers.
  • Document patient care in accordance with established criteria.
  • Prioritize caseload to ensure optimal service and patient care.
  • Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supply inventory.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy with certification from an accredited school of Occupational Therapist Assistant Program.
  • Current license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant from the State of Alabama.
  • Three months of on-the-job training provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to transport and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and work for extended periods without relief.
  • Dexterity of arms, hands, and fingers bilaterally.
  • Ability to work with hands for up to 12 hours a day.
  • Ability to push/pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics to enable these senses to function adequately.
