Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy Specialist with UAB Health System, you will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and administering occupational therapy modalities for patients with hand and upper limb injuries or conditions. You will work under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures to provide high-quality patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate patients with hand and upper limb injuries or conditions to determine their functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans.
Administer occupational therapy modalities, such as exercises, stretches, and modalities, to restore function and prevent disability.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient progress and treatment plans.
Requirements:
Graduate from an American Occupational Therapy accredited academic program.
Successful completion of the AOTA Registration Examination.
Previous responsible work experience in clinical area of expertise; documented in fieldwork appraisals.
Minimum of one year experience in hand therapy required or completion of a three (3) month internship at UAB Medicine's Hand Therapy clinic.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of clinical upper extremity experience.
Current AOTA registration.
Current ALOTA license.
Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
CHT or actively working on obtaining certification.
