The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Provide cost-conscious, patient-centered care that is culturally competent and equitable.
  • Attend required training sessions and maintain regular attendance.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, clients, and outside providers.
  • Embodies the values of compassion, knowledge, equity, and inclusion.
  • Acts as a role model to carry out the vision of humanity and healing.

Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret for patients without adding, omitting, or editing information.
  • Assist with patient registration, referrals, and other aspects of patient visits.
  • Help providers understand cultural differences to facilitate communication.
  • Accurately translate medical information for health center staff.
  • Assess patients' needs and provide advocacy information and referrals as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of college or an associate's degree in a related field, with medical interpreter training and certification required or earned within six months of hire.

Bilingual in English and another language appropriate to the Family Health Center patient population is required, with adequate reading and writing skills in both languages.
