We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic III to lead our maintenance team at UNC Health. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and assigning work tasks, assessing work performance, and assisting with performance reviews.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct hospital fire drills and maintain fire prevention and extinguishing equipment to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain all UNC Health buildings and facilities to comply with hospital maintenance policies and ensure a comfortable and safe environment.
- Perform operational tests and maintenance of the laundry chute system and emergency stairwells to meet JCAHO requirements and UNC Health policies.
- Repair and maintain various life safety equipment, including vacuum pumps, life-saving mechanical equipment, and emergency generator prime movers.
- Select and repair suitable materials to match existing materials or devices in use throughout all hospital buildings.
- Supervise or perform highly skilled work in general maintenance and repair of buildings, related equipment, and plumbing, heating/cooling, and/or electrical systems.
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid NC Driver's license (if applicable)
- Five (5) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades
- Knowledge of mechanical and building trades, including plumbing, heating/cooling, and electrical systems
This position is employed by UNC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and inclusive environment with a diverse team of professionals.
