Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at Elgin Community College. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patrol and Respond: Proactively patrol designated areas to preserve order and enforce traffic regulations. Respond to emergencies and investigate disturbances to determine appropriate action.
  2. Investigate Incidents: Investigate vehicle accidents, civil disagreements, and other non-threatening incidents to determine appropriate action.
  3. Enforce Regulations: Patrol traffic and parking areas to enforce regulations and ensure compliance.
  4. Provide Support: Administer first aid, perform CPR, and apply AED as necessary. Operate communication equipment to transmit citizen complaint calls to appropriate personnel.
  5. Document Incidents: Prepare written reports of incidents occurring during assigned shifts.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience: Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years prior police experience.
  2. Certifications and Licenses: Certified Police Officer through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) and maintain such certification throughout employment. Valid Illinois driver's license.
  3. Physical Demands: Ability to walk eight hours per day and assist in evacuating non-ambulatory persons in an emergency. Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs occasionally or 50 lbs frequently or 25 lbs constantly).
  4. Work Environment: Moderate noise, outdoor weather, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Bilingual: Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are highly desirable.
