Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:

The Crosby Independent School District is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining complete and systematic records of assigned district financial transactions, verifying and recording details of financial transactions, and balancing general ledger and subsidiary accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and auditable financial records
  • Verify and record financial transactions in journals and ledgers
  • Balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts
  • Examine general ledger transactions for accuracy and make corrections as needed
  • Compute and record cash receipt summaries
  • Balance bank statements and resolve discrepancies with bank officials
  • Prepare financial statements, income statements, and cost reports
  • Compile and maintain reports, records, and documents as required
  • Maintain district fundraiser and donation records
  • Assist with MAC and SHARS compliance reporting

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • TASBO Certification (Preferred)
  • Two years experience or college coursework in accounting-related subjects
  • Experience with Skyward SMS Finance (Preferred)

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • May work prolonged or irregular hours
