Federal Work Study Student - Music Peer Tutor

Job Description:

The Learning Center on the Beebe Campus is seeking a Federal Work Study student at 15 hours per week to provide academic support to music students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and group instruction to students in music fundamentals, music theory, ear training, class piano, music history, and fine arts music.
  • Develop and implement tutoring plans to meet the needs of students.
  • Communicate with music faculty and staff to ensure effective support for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
Requirements:

  • Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required.
  • Music tutor must have successfully completed or currently be enrolled in the first semester of music theory sequence (MUS1413) and class piano or applied piano.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:

  • This is a part-time, hourly position.
  • Hours will be determined in consultation with the supervisor.
Compensation:

  • $11.00 per hour.
Background Check Statement:

This position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal, sex-offender registry background check. In cases where pre-determined, an additional financial/credit history/ background check may be required as well. Convictions that have been sealed or legally eradicated and misdemeanor convictions for which probation was completed and the case was dismissed, will be excluded. Disclosure does not constitute an automatic bar to employment. Factors such as dates of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, rehabilitation and position applied for will be taken into account.
